Introduction to Social Media Exploration
Recently, I’ve reentered the realm of social media, and it has been quite an experience. I’ll be writing more articles about it. Much has changed since the days when sharing photos on Facebook was the norm. To reach a broader audience and have a global experience, I’ve switched to using English on these platforms. In doing so, I stumbled upon an entirely unfamiliar universe: Incels and the Red Pill movement.
Incels and Red Pill Movement Defined
For those unfamiliar, Incels (Involuntary Celibate) are men struggling to find a sexual or romantic partner. The Red Pill movement, closely linked to this group, encompasses ideas about gender and relationships. It argues that feminism harms men, advocating a submissive role for women and a dominant one for men. This is a brief summary of a surprisingly widespread phenomenon.
Warning: Disturbing Content
You can find a lot of information on this topic, but I strongly advise against it. It leaves you with an unpleasant feeling and extreme pessimism about humanity. The level of atrocities, childish ideas presented as absolute truths, immaturity, and ignorance about society and human beings is staggering. Adult men discussing teenage ideas, feeling rejected by women, flood social media and podcasts in the Anglo-Saxon world.
Global Impact of Incel/Red Pill Content
This content hits hard if you enter the world of social media using English. The sheer volume of podcasts, YouTube videos, threads, comments, etc., is overwhelming. There are genuine “wars” between supporters and opponents of these theses, especially in platforms like X.
Concerning Aspects: Lack of Emotional Intelligence
Several aspects are concerning:
- How do these clearly detached-from-reality ideas reach a vast audience? Young men should detect the errors in these “relationship experts’” conclusions. Following the advice of self-proclaimed “alpha males” condemns them to loneliness and permanent celibacy. Is the lack of knowledge about the opposite sex and relationships widespread among young men?
- Why are there so many Incels? Despite relationship challenges, the majority had relationships when I was young. Are we witnessing the consequences of the first generation with childhood internet access, lacking emotional intelligence?
- If there are many men in this situation, an equivalent number of women might be Femcels (Female involuntary celibate). This phenomenon has made men fragile and manipulable, followers of gurus promoting toxic ideologies. How are women affected, assuming the number of Femcels has increased? The first and most evident effect is a conflict with the group of male ‘Incels,’ given that the ideas they put forward are clearly misogynistic and demeaning to women, possibly leading even to a disconnection with men in general. The second could be common characteristics between both groups, such as negative self-perception or resentment..
Unexpected Discovery and Call to Action
I never expected to find a monster of this size in my social media endeavors. I aimed for a broader reach and a more global perspective. Today, it’s incredible that this universe was once invisible, growing under our feet. If you know someone absorbed by these ideas, do them and the world a favor—talk to them.
